After nearly a decade in the making, Soda Rooftop has officially opened its doors - just in time for summer! Located on top of The George Hotel, this elevated venue offers unbeatable views of Glenelg Beach and the Adelaide Hills, making it a must-visit spot along Jetty Road. With great food, drinks, and a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere,Soda is set to become a go-to destination along Jetty Road.

The idea for Soda began over 12 years ago when Mike Papatolis and real estate professional Andrew Taplin dreamed of a rooftop venue that would showcase
everything that makes Glenelg special. After their successful opening, Soda now brings an elevated space that showcases the coastline, the sunsets, and a relaxed energy.
With Mike’s family having lived and worked in Glenelg for over 75 years, Soda’s location is personal, and his aim is to help the area thrive and simply make it a better place.

The Name & Concept

Simplicity was key when naming the venue. “I just like venues with one-word names -they’re easy to remember, easy to brand. The name is a bit more ambiguous; we didn’t want to keyhole ourselves into a certain cuisine or style/aesthetic of the venue.” Mike explains. That sense of freedom carries through in the venue’s design and menu. Soda offers modern Australian cuisine, complemented by an impressive drinks list featuring rare whiskeys, house-made syrups and handcrafted sodas and mocktails - named ‘Sodas by Soda’.

Food & Drinks

Soda’s executive chef, Brent Potuszynski, brings incredible experience from Michelin-star restaurants in England, creating a menu that celebrates seasonal, modern Australian cuisine. Standout dishes include the Mayura Station steak and kangaroo tartare, already favourites among staff. The drinks menu is equally impressive, with rare whiskey selections, a curated and individual wine list, and signature handcrafted sodas and cocktails.

Design & Atmosphere

Designed by the team at SMFA, the creative team behind Mike’s Ballet Wine Bar, Soda Rooftop offers both sophistication with warmth. High-end finishes, inviting textures, and warm lighting come together to highlight the breathtaking views. The music keeps it classy yet relaxed, with house tracks creating the perfect elevated soundtrack for an elevated dining experience.
