Enjoy a guided walking tour of the historic precinct of Glenelg. Learn about the people, places, and events that helped shape this iconic Adelaide location.

In 1836, Glenelg was the landing place for the first settlement on mainland South Australia. Intrinsically linked to the colonisation of South Australia, the Patawalonga to the north of Glenelg's Moseley Square is the site of some of the first interactions between colonists and the Kaurna People of the Adelaide Plains.

Glenelg's old town was designed by Colonel William Light, whose plan for the City of Adelaide is widely regarded as a prototype for an ideal city plan. By the 1940s, with Jetty Road in Glenelg as the focal point, the shopping strip had morphed into the 'golden half mile' of boutiques and local businesses, and it remains known today.
